Experience The "Discovery" Wetlands cruise

Across Dock Road from the Three Village Inn, The Ward Melville Heritage Organization's pontoon boat "Discovery" departs from the Boat Works marina. The 35-passenger vessel cruises through the organization's 88-acre wetlands preserve for a 1-1/2 hour tour. A naturalist is onboard to describe the wildlife and flora you'll see. Cruises are scheduled according to the tide table from May through October.

18th Annual Scarecrow Competition

JOIN THE FUN!

Come have fun creating a Scarecrow

and vote for your favorites!

The Ward Melville Heritage Organization invites people of all ages to enter the 18th Annual Scarecrow Competition. 

Contestants must register to enter the competition no later than Monday, Sept. 22nd and set up their scarecrows for public display from Friday, Sept. 26th to Sunday, Sept. 28th. Scarecrows will be on display throughout Stony Brook Village from Sunday, Sept. 28th to Sunday Oct. 26th.

Participants can enter their submissions in one of the following three categories at a fee of $10.00 per entry. (View entry form for details)

1) Professional (artists, commercial establishments and all previous 1st prize winners of the Scarecrow Competition)

2) Adult/Family (individual adults and families guided by an adult)

3) Children (individuals and groups of children under 12)

Members of the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite scarecrows. Ballots will be available in many Stony Brook Village Center stores & eateries.

The Winners of the competition will be announced at the Halloween Festival on Friday, October 31st at 3:00pm. Entry forms with official competition rules and regulations are available in many Stony Brook Village stores & eateries.
