East of the Inn stands a stone structure that resulted from the joining of the old Stony Brook firehouse and the "Old Stone Jug", a building moved from "the block" to the site during the reconstruction of the village in 1941. The new fire department building, located in Harbor Crescent, was dedicated on Labor Day, 1941. The old firehouse building was the original site of the Suffolk Museum that in 1947 housed the largest collection of works by William Sidney Mount. For decades, the women of the garden club sold antiques and collectibles here until it closed in 2005.
