Located in the historic Stony Brook Village Center, The Ward Melville Heritage Organization's new, 8,800 square-foot Educational & Cultural Center is a year-round venue providing activities, events and educational programs to families and children. These include performing arts, music, theater and dance, WMHO Youth Corps activities and community events, outreach to local cultural and educational groups, intergenerational programs and lifelong learning opportunities. The facility also houses classrooms for on-site adult and youth programs, as well as distance learning programs. Through video conferencing, people of all ages will be able to experience programs in Stony Brook that are broadcast from museums, zoos and other institutions throughout the country and interact with instructors in real time. WMHO also features its own unique video conferencing programs in Coastal Ecology, History and Literacy.
Great Room- 37' X 62', 28' vaulted ceiling, 200 person capacity. The great room offers a vaulted ceiling with second floor projection booth that can present images on its 28' wall.
Classroom(s)- 22.9' X 61.8' (Divided- 22.9' X 37.9' and 22.9' X 23.9'), 90 person capacity.
A classroom contains the videoconferencing unit and can be divided into two rooms with a soundproof divider.
Conference Room- 14' X 34.3', 20 person capacity. A large conference table and chairs are available for half-day and full-day rental.
Second floor features an outdoor balcony for breaks. |
