Suzie Q here with my Buzz around Town!
Happy Fall Everyone! One of my favorite seasons…especially in my favorite Village!
I finally checked out the new stores here and what a treat that was! Amanda atVillage Florist & Events is so helpful and her flowers and gifts are beautiful. I learned that she offers workshops called Wine & Design on Wednesdays and the first one will be December 6 with “holiday wreath making” and, of course, wine! I’ve already contacted my ladies to go as well! I also met Andrea from Cervo Design whose shop is magnificent. She does Italian kitchen cabinetry, closets, bath remodeling, window treatments, home staging and a whole lot more. She’ll be doing workshops in January on Colors and Moods, Kitchen and Closet Clutter Solutions and others. Camera Concepts & Telescope Solutions has some impressive camera equipment and telescopes and since I love astronomy, Jeff and Greta were quite interesting to talk to. They too will offer workshops and their first one is January 12 on “How to Get the Most from your Telescope.” My husband would love to go to that one and I think it’s great that these shops are offering all these events!
As always, the Educational & Cultural Center is hosting a great event – I’ve already reserved for the Holiday Musical Theatre show – it is a great gift idea! This year it’s a tribute to Linda Ronstadt and Olivia Newton-John! Performances start on November 19 and what a great show that should be. Speaking of gifts, I checked out the gift shop at the Cultural Center – they have such unique items such as Sand Street Beach bracelets (yes with real sand from the beach), tea towels and holiday items.
I just heard from my sister that Blue Salon & Spa hosts Teen Spa Parties and Robinson’s Tea Room offers Princess High Tea Parties that include a craft making “fascinator” head bands just like in England! How adorable! You can get a gift card or gift certificate for those as well, and don’t forget the Stony Brook Village Center Gift Certificates which are useable anywhere in the Village.
I have family coming in for the holidays and I want to make sure we all get here for the Holiday Festival on December 3. It’s always a great time seeing the model trains, hearing the carolers and of course Santa but I heard there will be something really big happening – and I mean really big – as in a giant puppet procession this year! They’re like the ones at the Halloween Parade in New York City and that’s an amazing event to see so I will be searching for details on this not to be missed event for sure (I heard the puppets start at 2:15!)
Happy Halloween! Hope to see you here…
